Great turnout at Highland games

Hundreds of local pupils and their families enjoyed a sunny afternoon of competition and fun at Lathallan School’s mini Highland games in Saturday.

The games included Piping and Drumming competitions, shot putt, caber toss, sack race and woodland dash.

There was also a kilt making demonstration and a display of dancing from Lawrence Dance Academy.

Visitors browsed the many side stalls of a duck pond, face painting, bouncy castle and coconut shy and the headmaster himself bravely endured a soaking in the stocks.

The Lathallan Pipe Band opened the event with prizes being presented by the family of the late John (Jock) Clark who helped create the Pipe Band back in 1956. He passed away this year and prizes presented in his memory.

Thanks to the Lathallan Parent Association and all the pupils and teachers from Lathallan, Bervie, Johnshaven, Catterline, St Cyrus and Albyn schools.
