1. Adrian Peterson (MIN) -- The league’s best running back against the league’s worst (statistically) defense vs. fantasy running backs. You do the math. Christian Ponder showed enough last week to keep Carolina from having 8 or 9 in the box on every play.
2. Ray Rice (BAL) -- Even the Baltimore defense is speaking out against the play selection of the Ravens offense in their embarrassing loss on MNF. Look for Baltimore to get back to what they do best -- use Ray Rice liberally.
3. Chris Johnson (TEN) -- Yes, I picked him high last week and he laid a big egg. However, there’s a big difference between running against the Texans defense (#6 vs. fantasy RBs) and the Colts (2nd worst).
4. Frank Gore (SF) -- The Browns give up more than 110 yards per game on the ground to fantasy running backs and the Niners get them at home. Gore’s fantasy numbers have been consistent and impressive in all three October games.
5. Steven Jackson (STL) -- His team might be pretty pathetic right now but he’s been consistent all month with three straight games in double digit fantasy points (in standard yardage/scoring leagues). His opponent this week, the Saints, are mediocre vs. the run so far in 2011.
6. Demarco Murray (DAL) -- There are no expectations of a repeat performance of last week’s record setting 253 yard explosion but he is going to start and carry the bulk of the workload against the Eagles. Felix Jones looks to be out at least this week again if not more.
7. Arian Foster (HOU) -- Normally, Foster would be much higher on this list but he faces a Jags defense that absolutely stifled Ray Rice on Monday night. Still, the Texans really got their offense rolling last week so it’ll be hard for Jacksonville to repeat their dominance.
8. LeSean McCoy (PHI) -- It’s been a great year for McCoy and, although the Cowboys have been good against the run, he is in line to have a good but not great day on Sunday night following the “Dream Team’s” bye.
9. Maurice Jones-Drew (JAX) -- Houston is pretty good vs. fantasy running backs but he’s sure to get plenty of touches as the Jags are trying to limit their rookie QBs chances to make a mistake. He needs to get rid of the fumble-itis he seemed to develop in Week 7, though.
10. Fred Jackson (BUF) -- Jackson has been nothing short of spectacular in 2011. He hasn’t had a poor performance yet and is averaging over 100 yards a game on the ground and is involved in the Bills passing game, as well. He faces a tough Redskins run “D” so don’t expect eye-popping numbers but solid, nonetheless.
