Having relinquished the WBO super-featherweight title, Scotland's Ricky Burns begins his assault on the lightweight division when he faces Michael Katsidis on Saturday.
Katsidis has lost two of his last three but only to the very best of the lightweights – Juan Manuel Marquez and Robert Guerrero. At 31 he may be on the slide but with 23 KOs from 28 wins he remains a puncher to be feared.
George Groves made a statement to arch rival James DeGale of ‘anything you can do, I can do better’ after he retained his British and Commonwealth super-middleweight crowns with an explosive second round stoppage over Paul Smith on the Burns-Katsidis bill. Former British champion Smith, who was halted in nine rounds by DeGale in December, was tipped by many respected pundits to give Groves all the trouble he could handle but the Liverpool man was unable to take Groves’ underrated power after making an encouraging start.
’s saucy fiancee Evelyn Lozada , of VH1’s “Basketball Wives,” insisted that the Patriots wide receiver delete 1,000 of his female Twitter followers after the two had met -- on Twitter. Lozada connected with Ochocinco through direct messages. “When we first started dating probably around Super Bowl, if you look at Chad’s account, he was following 1,500 people,” she told us. “When you go onto someone’s page you see who they are following . . . He probably has like 500 [now].” Asked if she had a say in who could stay, Lozada said: “He was following who he wanted to follow at the time. Things have changed. I didn’t go specifically through his friends, we had a mutual conversation.” Lozada will dish on flames including Celtics all-star Antoine Walker , ex-Net Kenny Anderson and her current love in a roman à clef for the “Wives Association” series. Cash Money founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams announced her six-figure book deal through Cash Money Content, the Universal label-turned-urban media company.
The lovely ladies of Basketball Wives is preparing for the all-important reunion show. You know, because a heavily nuanced show like this needs a recap. The biggest story line will be the lingering hatred between Tami Roman and Meeka Claxton, and that is precisely what is wrong with the show.
