I followed the music and ended up in the middle of the park, surprised that there weren't too many people there- maybe a few hundred? He deserved a few thousand, at least. During his last song there were flashes of lightning illuminating the night sky followed by a torrential downpour at the end of the song. Some ran away, some (including me) ran for a few small tents that were set up for the sound guys and stayed for the encore song (undoubtedly worth it- wet clothes dry but his voice will stay in my mind forever).

This is their 10th year, so staff and volunteers are gearing up for an incredible weekend. They’ve obtained a variety of renowned acts, as well as many local bands to perform for the weekend.
I was very impressed to see openly gay contestants on the NBC's breakout talent-based competition The Voice. The more established counterpart American Idol has yet to see such a feat.
The LGBT hopefuls on The Voice are fiery Vicci Martinez, the seasoned Beverly McClellan, the bluesy Nakia and Tyler Robinson, who probably will be best known as the gay Mormon. The cast of The Voice will have a concert at The Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. River, Rosemont, on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
They Might Be Giants - "Join Us": They Might Be Giants has finally taken a break from writing kids' songs and in the form of "Join Us" have created an album for the parents - their first "adult" record since 2007's "The Else." With "Join Us," you get 19 songs that veer wildly all over the map, but still carry They Might Be Giants' stylistic hiccups and oddball lyrics. - Zachary Houle

Oh, and I just discovered this motley crew (Grace Potter, Joe Satriani, Steve Kimock, Reed Mathis, Willie Waldman and Stephen Perkins) doing “Cortez.” Joe needs to chill out a bit, but pretty cool.

Pop star Katy Perry pretty much owned the summer of 2010 with the infectious hit "California Gurls." Given the big sales, the steady stream of hit singles and the slew of Grammy nominations, there's a good chance she'll have a firm grasp on next summer, too, which is when she comes to Merriweather Post Pavilion for a June 15 show. Tickets are $35-$48 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly .
