PASADENA - Kevon Seymour was thanking family, friends, coaches and teammates after he officially was invited Tuesday afternoon to play in January's U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Two days after they lost starting quarterback Jason Campbell to a broken collarbone, the Oakland Raiders acquired Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for two draft picks.
Palmer, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, hasn’t played since requesting a trade from the Bengals after a 4-12 record last season. Palmer told Cincinnati television station WCPO in March that he’d rather retire than rejoin the Bengals, who replaced him with rookie Andy Dalton and have a 4-2 record this year.

Chanute High School running back Eric Bowman had a breakout senior year in 2010 and was rewarded with a Kansas Shrine Bowl selection, one of eight running backs listed on the East roster.
Not that Bowman played badly when he was at Girard High School in 2008 and 2009 (Bowman earned CNC honorable mention his sophomore year), but he did not have a season like 1,742 yards and 24 touchdowns on 171 carries — 10.2 yards per carry and 158.4 yards per game, earning Bowman All-State honors in Class 4A.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha joined fellow Pro Bowlers Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel in the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive secondary, shunning the New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.

Legendary Detroit Lions running back and NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders will be on hand in New York City to announce the Lions second round pick at next weekend’s NFL Draft.
Sanders, who was the Lions first-round pick in 1989 out of Oklahoma State ranks third on the NFL’s all-time rushing list, despite playing just 10 seasons in the league. He was the NFL MVP in 1997, a Pro Bowl selection in every season he was in the league and the 1989 NFL Rookie of the Year after winning the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma State.
