Head Coach Mike Price: Fun Filled Weekend Will Kick Off UTEP Sports Season

El Paso - The UTEP football team is going to be put to work over the next few days, as if football practice wasn't enough.

The players and coaching staff are holding several events for fans, starting with their Annual Kickoff Luncheon at the El Paso Convention Center downtown.  The luncheon is sponsored by the touchdown club.  Head Coach Mike Price said it is a great opportunity to sit down and get to know the playersthe players, "There will be two players and a coach at every table. You'll see them without their helmets, and you will be able to talk to them.  The coaches will speak.  It will be a fun time" Price said.

UTEP football notes: Freshman likely to play now

The decision won't be official until he enters a game, but the true freshman most likely to play right away is receiver Malcom Trail.

Two seasons ago, he was a quarterback at Class 2A Dallas Life School Oak Cliff before taking a grayshirt season in the fall.

"I probably won't" redshirt, said Trail, who joined the Miner team after the 2010 fall academic semester for its New Mexico Bowl workouts. "This is the way I want it. I want to play as quickly as possible, get as much experience as I can.
