Tickets go on sale for Yo La Tengo's 2011 eight nights of Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's

Tickets are now on sale for Yo La Tengo's eight nights of Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's in Hoboken.

The shows, which have become an annual tradition, this year run through Christmas, from Dec. 20 to 27.

In previous years, the tickets have rapidly sold out, as each night's show opens with a set by a prominent musician, followed by a stand-up act by a well-known comic.

The acts are never announced until after the shows have already sold out.

Last year's shows featured M. Ward, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and The National among the opening acts, and Todd Barry, Eugene Mirman and "The Daily Show's'' Wyatt Cenac among the comic performers.

The Elysian Charter School's chorus performed last year as well, as the school was the recipient of all funds raised that particular evening.

Different charities -- NJ Seeds and City Harvest among them -- receive the proceeds from nightly ticket sales and collectible mixtapes made by friends of the band, like Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and WFMU's Brian Turner.

If you can't wait until December to see Yo La Tengo, they'll be performing under the name Condo F***s next Friday at Manhattan's Mercury Lounge and a week later at Brooklyn Bell House to celebrate Norton Records' 25th anniversary.
