Tuesday, Oct. 25, 10:30 a.m. A presentation on the book "What is the Color of Your Heart" by Writer Dr. Rose M. Borunda is scheduled at Woodland Community College. The Cross Cultural Series at Woodland Community College presents "What is the Color of Your Heart" until 11:45 a.m. in Community Room 800, at the College, 2300 E. Gibson Road. Borunda, associate professor at Sacramento State, will discuss the inspiration for her book which provides a humanist approach to diversity by way of a "fresh cast of historical and modern day figures whose values were rooted in
humanist ideas that flourished into social justice activism," as stated by Publisher Kendall Hunt.

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 7 p.m. To find out the facts about plans and costs for replacing local groundwater with Sacramento River water, the Yolo County Taxpayers Association is holding a Surface Water Project Forum in the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. The forum will include an overview of the surface water project, which is being managed by the Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency, a joint powers authority of the Cities of Woodland and Davis. The Forum will also feature a panel comprised of Woodland Public Works Director Greg Meyer, Woodland City Councilman Bill Marble, Woodland Principal Engineer Doug Baxter, and Woodland-Davis Clean Water Agency engineer Jim Yost to answer questions about the project, its costs, and plans to finance it primarily through water rates. The event is free and members of the public are invited to come, listen, learn, ask questions and voice their concerns.
Thursday, Oct, 27, 4 p.m. Whitehead Elementary School is hosting its annual Harvest Festival until 7 p.m. This event includes carnival style games, dinner, desserts, and a silent auction and will provide an exciting atmosphere for an evening out with the family. The festival will take place at the school, 624 W. Southwood Drive. Activities will include fun games such as potato sack races, duck pluck, beanbag tosses, a cakewalk, and a lollipop pull. Additionally, the festival will feature a pumpkin patch and fortuneteller.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner catered by Ludy's Main St. BBQ, scheduled for 7 p.m. Featured speaker for the evening is David J. Friday, Oct. 28, 6 p.m. The Sons of the American will be holding a Halloween Spooktacular Costume Party at American Legion Post 77, 523 Bush St., Woodland. There will be dancing to living music by Kiss 'N' Tell, featuring Ericka Davis, a no-host bar, a costume contest with prizes awarded for the best first and second place dressers, and more. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door.
Friday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m. The Fraternal Order of Eagles will be serving dinner. Shorty Aguirre will be serving tamales, rice, beans, green salad and dessert. Sunday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. The Yolo County Civic Club No. 26 will hold its last Portuguese Linguica Breakfast at Holy Rosary Church's Tumulty Hall, adjacent to 301 Walnut St., Woodland. The menu will include the ethnic Portuguese linguica sausage, special scrambled eggs and hash browns, fruit, juice and coffee. Breakfast will be served until 11 a.m. The cost is $7 adults, $5 children under 12 and $20 for a family of four. Net proceeds will benefit the Yolo Wayfarer Center.
