21 to 26 games to be shown on television or online; 6 national broadcasts
It won't be long before the Galen Center is rocking an rolling as the 2011-12 season opens on Nov. 11 when USC hosts CS Northridge in an 8 p.m. game. The USC women's team will host Fresno State at 5 p.m. that same night as part of a doubleheader.
The 2011-12 USC men's basketball team will have 21 to 26 of its 31 regular season games broadcast on television or available online it was announced today (Oct. 10). Six games are slated to be aired nationally on Fox Sports Net (FSN), seven regionally on Prime Ticket or Fox Sports West (FS West) and one each on the Big Ten Network, the Mountain West Sports Network and Comcast SportsNet. Additionally, five Trojan home games will be streamed live exclusively on USCTrojans.com and as always, all home games will be archived on USCTrojans.com.
The six games to be shown on Fox Sports Net nationally begin with the game vs. Georgia at the Galen Center on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs went 21-12 last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. USC's second nationally televised game on FSN will be vs. perennial national power Kansas on Dec. 22 at 8:00 p.m. Kansas went 35-3 a year ago and like the Trojans lost in the NCAA Tournament to VCU. USC played at Kansas last season and lost a nail-biter 70-68 when Kansas' freshman Josh Selby hit a late three-pointer.
The next two games to air on FSN will also be home games vs. Pac-12 powers Arizona on Jan. 8 at 2:30 p.m. and UCLA on Jan. 15 at 6:00 p.m. USC's game at Washington on Feb. 4 at 8:00 p.m. will be shown on FSN as will the home game vs. Stanford on Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
In addition, USC's game on Nov. 26 at the Las Vegas Invitational will be shown nationally on ESPN2 if they face North Carolina in the finals or semifinals.
The following is the list of the seven games to air regionally on the Fox networks Prime Ticket or FS West: Nov. 14 vs. Nebraska (Prime Ticket, 7:30 p.m.), Dec. 10 vs. New Mexico (FS West, 4:00 p.m.), Dec. 31 at Stanford (FS West, 3:30 p.m.), Jan. 21 at Oregon State (Prime Ticket, 7:30 p.m.), Jan. 28 vs. Utah (Prime Ticket, 8:00 p.m.), Feb. 15 at UCLA (Prime Ticket, 7:30 p.m.) and Feb. 25 at Arizona State (Prime Ticket, 5:00 p.m.).
Also, USC's games on Feb. 9 vs. California, Feb. 23 at Arizona, March 1 vs. Washington and March 3 vs. Washington State are under consideration as wild card choices for television.
Three of USC's road games will be televised in their local market and availabe on some cable systems in Los Angeles. Those games will be at San Diego State on Nov. 17 at 7: p.m. which will be carried by the Mountain West Sports Network (and Channel 4 San Diego), the game at Minnesota on Dec. 3 at 1:15 p.m. which will be on the Big Ten Network and the game at California on Dec. 29 at 6:00 p.m. which will be carried on Comcast SportsNet California.
The five games to be available live exclusively on USCTrojans.com are: the season opener on Nov. 11 vs. CS Northridge at 8:00 p.m., Nov. 19 vs. Cal Poly at 1:00 p.m., Nov. 22 vs. Morgan State at 7:00 p.m., Dec. 19 vs. TCU at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 26 vs. Colorado at 7:30 p.m.
USC's game which are under consideration for a wildcard selection to be televised are Feb. 9 vs. California, Feb. 23 at Arizona, March 1 vs. Washington and March 3 vs. Washington State.
