Plant High teacher among dead in Tampa Crash - Tampa Bay Tampa Top News | Examiner.com

Tampa Plant High teacher Nancy Farnsworth and her husband Webster Farnsworth died in a horrific multi-vehicle crash Friday while returning from lunch in Clearwater, Florida.

The late educator was a longtime teacher at the South Tampa high school, where she taught math for Hillsborough County Public Schools over a decade. Sadly, the life of the beloved teacher ended tragically during the weekend of a family celebration.

Citing a story from ABC Action News, Nancy Farnsworth, 54, Webster Farnsworth, 63, and their granddaughter  Kaylee, 3, were driving back to their Tampa home after a lunch outing. Their son, Adam and his pregnant wife Crystal had driven in from Tallassee to celebrate her baby shower with both sides of the family.

After meeting with Crystal's parents over lunch ahead of the family celebration, the Plant High teacher, her husband, and granddaughter drove back to their Seminole Heights home. However, when they arrived at the intersection of Habana and Hillsborough avenues, a wayward truck driven by Tampa residentEric D. McNeil, 42, collided with their vehicle.

The truck went airborne and landed on another vehicle occupied by six passengers. Thankfully, no one in the other motor vehicles suffered life-threatening injuries in the Tampa crash.

When the vehicles came to rest, Nancy Farnsworth and Webster Farnsworth were dead. Authorities say the driver of the pickup truck lost consciousness for some unknown reason. Charges, if any, are pending.

A spokesperson for the dead Tampa couple gave a glimmer of good news about the little girl's condition. According to Bobby Diehl, the Plant High teacher's brother-in-law, Adam and Crystal Farnsworth's daughter Kaylee is expected to survive. At St. Joseph's Hospital, where she is recovering, an MRI of her brain did not show any bleeding.

While the Tampa crash claimed the life of a beloved teacher and her husband, the outpouring of love from the community goes a long way in beginning the healing process.
