Event Report:

Met A Few Psych-O’s Last Night.

No, I’m not talking about the ordinary, everyday freaks and weirdos that roam the streets of NYC, I’m talking about the obsessed fans of the USA series PSYCH . Psych-O’s from California, Massachusetts, Michigan, and the rest of the country traveled to NYC to kick off the start of the show’s sixth season. PSYCH is thelongest original running series on USA, and the cast, crew, and network decided to give back by throwing a Fan Appreciation Day where 1,000 fans were able to join the cast for a Q&A and an advance screening of the Season 6 premiere episode.

We were lucky enough to snag a seat next to Dule Hill ‘s real-life mother AND sit in front of Dule’s character Gus’s mother, Phylicia Rashad .(You know, Mrs. Huxtable) The night started off with us snapping photos of each other trying out different ways we could wear a pineapple, (it’s a PSYCH thing) followed by episode trivia in the theatre.

An hour later one of the show’s creators, Steve Franks , introduced the Season 6 premiere episode. He let us know that if we were with children, this would be the time to leave because of the insane amounts of gratuitous nudity the episode contains. Well, as much as we wanted to see Maggie Lawson, James Roday , and Dule Hill down to their B-day suits, it didn’t happen. But a ton of hilarious comedy did.

A few days ago you saw a teaser clip from the new episode — Maggie Lawson’s character, Julia, hooked is up to a lie detector. Next Wednesday, James Roday’s character Shawn also gets put in the same situation by Timothy Omundson ‘s character Lassiter, and he reveals some shocking information. It’s an “aw” moment.

Finally, after the screening, series writer Andy Berman, brought out the PSYCH cast members so that these Psych-O’s could get some burning questions answered that they’ve been waiting to ask. James Roday, Dule Hill, Timothy Omundson, Corbin Bernsen , Maggie Lawson, and Kirsten Nelson all joined us for a Q&A session. While the cast and creators were, you know, just toasting some bread, we found out that Dule Hill is the best singer of the cast and that Timothy Omundson does a pretty damn good impression of the Right Said Fred single, “I’m Too Sexy.” Fans asked Maggie Lawson and James Roday if they ever look to Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber ‘s relationship for advice, and Timothy Omundson revealed that if he wasn’t an actor he would have been an astronaut or dabbled in underwear modeling. After Dule Hill had us all sing happy birthday to his mom, they wrapped up the Q&A with a few “Psych-Offs” where 2 Psych-O’s went head to head battling it out over PSYCH trivia. And before they left us, they threw some mini footballs and signed pieces of toast into the crowd. What a way to end an event.

This was on the back of our event pass: “I attended Psych Appreciation Day and all I got was the best night of my life. And this sweet credential.” Yep, pretty much sums up the night.
