• Former Minnesota Twins team president Howard Fox has died at the age of 90. The Twins made the announcement on Tuesday. Fox worked for the Twins for more than 50 years, starting as general manager of a minor-league affiliate for the Washington Senators. Fox also worked in public relations and was traveling secretary for the Senators. He accompanied them when they moved to Minnesota and worked his way up to Twins president in 1984.

• The Red Sox activated relievers Bobby Jenks and Franklin Morales from the 15-day DL. Right-hander Scott Atchison and lefty Tommy Hottovy were optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room on the roster. Jenks has been out since June 8 because of tightness in his back. He's 2-2 with a 6.57 ERA in 15 appearances.

• Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter ran the bases for the first time Tuesday since he's been out, a key step in his rehabilitation program for a strained right calf. The Yankees captain ran from home to first four times, first to second three times and first to third once on Tuesday at the team's minor-league complex in Tampa, Fla.

• Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo could miss up to twoΩ months after having surgery on his broken left thumb. Choo's thumb was broken Friday night in San Francisco when he was struck while batting in the fourth inning by Giants left-hander Jonathan Sanchez. Choo's finger was also cut and required stitches.
