Why didn’t WUCF TV show Barbra Streisand special for PBS?

Barbra Streisand was back on TV, and PBS had her Monday.

But several readers have asked why the Streisand special that aired on many PBS stations didn’t show in Central Florida.

That special, “Barbra Streisand — One Night Only at the Village Vanguard,”  was taped in 2009 and designed for fund-raising by PBS stations.

Yet WUCF TV didn’t show it.

“It is a pledge show and we don’t feel it is right to celebrate our one-month birthday with pledge programming that would pre-empt regular programming,” said Grant Heston, assistant vice president of news, information and WUCF TV at the University of Central Florida.

“We are considering pledge programming later this fall, and will pledge differently than has be done in the past,” Heston added.

i for one be glad they didnt show that old horse face screaching like a old wet cat a singing on up to the tv all she do is bellering and acting like she so hihg and mighty and i think i send 5 dollers on up to the tv staton for keeping my ears from bleading when i end up on that chanel

Alas, WUCF sent an e-mail to those of us who were early supporters to tell us that one of our favorite non PSB programs would soon return. And what great gem is this? Lawrence Welk.

Benita Butrelle, before you diss others (Miss Streisand, in this case), look at your shortcomings first. To begin with, your English grammar is HORRENDOUS. You should have written in your native language instead.

Ms. Butrelle, you obviously don’t know great talent when you hear it !!!

As an FYI, Benita, there are many of us who requested the Lawrence Welk Show —- for us it IS a GEM!
