Hartville MarketPlace will be holding their 72nd annual Labor Day Flea Market on Sept. 1-3 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Labor Day weekend is one of the biggest markets of the year. Come discover hidden treasures among more than 1000 flea market vendors and 125 indoor vendors. The STOMP (Summit Tour of Metro Parks) Bicycle Adventure will be held on Sept. 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 4040 Riverview Rd. in Peninsula. This is one of the largest cycling events in Northeast Ohio. Registration includes light breakfast, lunch, live music and more. Advance registration ends Aug. 22 and is limited to 1600 participants. The event is a fundraiser for Citizens for Metro Parks. All cyclists are required to wear a helmet, and riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. On Sept. 3, Portage County Chapter #600 of International Parents Without Partners will have its monthly dance with the theme “Back to School Days Sock Hop” from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., at the Kent V.F.W. #3703 post home, 500 VFW Parkway. Music will be by disc jockey Mel. These monthly dances are open to the public and non-members. Cost for the dance is $6 for members and $8 for non-members. There will also be a “Chinese Raffle” at the dance for a fundraiser. Ladies Auxiliary of Airport Post #8975, 1649 Krumroy Rd., are having a spaghetti dinner served with salad, bread and coffee on Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. for supper. Public welcome. Max Richard Thornsbury Foundation will host Max’s CKDH Awareness 5K run and walk Sept. 10, 8:30 a.m. one mile walk and 5K starts at 9 a.m. at Green High School Memorial Stadium. Summa Barberton Hospital is hosting the free 2011 Diabetes C.A.R.E. (Community Awareness Resource and Education) lecture series on Sept. 13, with the annual panel discussion and product display.
