Newark Police are investigating an attempted robbery, which occurred on August 15, at approximately 4:57 p.m. at the Walgreens Pharmacy located in Suburban Plaza Shopping Center, off Elkton Road.
Police reported a white male suspect approached the pharmacy counter and advised the clerk that he was armed with a bomb. The suspect demanded the clerk turn over Oxycontin, however, the clerk refused and the suspect fled out the front of the store. The area was searched by Newark Police and a Delaware State Police K9 team, however the suspect was not located.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with long gray hair and a dark colored goatee. He was wearing a long sleeve gray t-shirt, blue jeans, sunglasses, dark colored baseball hat and carrying a blue soft cooler.
