HEC Paris in Qatar has announced that it will be launching a programme entitled ‘Leading in challenging times’ later this year, for senior business executives in Qatar and the rest of the region. The course will be introduced in October, offering executives the chance to learn about new and innovative ways of approaching business during a volatile and unpredictable global economic climate. “The rigorous and challenging programme equips executives to manage uncertainty and financial risk, create value through cost-cutting and revenue generation, lead in complex business environments, and implement strategic innovation to gain a competitive edge,” said a spokesperson. A number of local executives have already experienced the programme after representatives of Qatar Petroleum, Qtel and Total E&P completed the intensive course last year. Academic dean of HEC Paris in Qatar, Antoine Hyafil stated: “We are excited to be running such an important programme in Doha for the second time. Uncertainty and risk permeate the global economy. They are associated with economic hardship in the West as well as with growth’s disruptive effects in the East and South.” “They generate threat, which today’s effective leader must be able to convert into opportunities. This programme will catalyse executives towards innovative strategic leadership under highly disturbed business conditions,” he added. Director of global initiatives and acting COO, Joshua Kobb, highlighted the importance of the programme for business leaders: “This is not a programme for executives who just want to survive in times of uncertainty; it is designed to help executives position their companies to actually thrive in times of uncertainty.”
