Mashreq Qatar, in association with MetLife Alico, has launched wealthcare insurance, a critical illness cover. The new product is designed to protect the customer in case they are diagnosed with one or more of the following health conditions: cancer, benign brain tumour, first heart attack, stroke, coronary artery disease, heart valve failure and pulmonary arterial hypertension. On diagnosis of any one of the covered illnesses or in the event of sudden death due to a covered illness (after the 120 days of waiting period), MetLife Alico will promptly pay the sum assured as a lump sum amount. This would enable the customer to meet all his committed expenses such as rent, lost incomes as well as any expenses that are not covered by traditional medical insurance. In the happy likelihood the insured remains healthy and does not have to use the protection element until the end of the coverage period (or term of the policy), he or she will be entitled to a 100% payback of the total premiums paid throughout the term of the policy. Similarly, in case death occurs not due any of the covered illnesses, 100% of the premiums paid would be refunded to the beneficiary of the insured. The wealthcare insurance protection offers payment upon diagnosis, worldwide coverage, and return of the entire premium if there is no claim at the end of the policy term. Customers have the convenience of paying premiums on a monthly or an annual basis with a sum assured of up to $100,000. “Our aim is that our customers should be able to afford the best healthcare services while being at peace about the financial well being of their family and loved ones. We have developed this product, with the aim to protect our customers and offer an attractive, convenient and value-added product,” Howard Kitson, country head of Mashreq Qatar, said.
