The NFL's 2011-12 schedule includes a full slate of games on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. So you know what that means: No. Jan. 1 bowl games.

The Capital One Bowl announced Thursday that it will play its 2012 game at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, joining a host of other bowls who will forego the actual holiday for the bank holiday.

The Big Ten's other New Year's Day tie-in bowls (TicketCity, Outback, Gator and Rose) all will host their games Jan. 2.This will mark the second time in six years that bowls will shift off New Year's Day to accommodate the NFL. The last time it happened was in 2006, which didn't affect Penn State, since it played Florida State in the Jan. 3 Orange Bowl.
