Following Wednesday's meeting, Ward 3 Council Member Steve Lamb told The Brazil Times he would not be running for re-election in the 2011 Municipal General Election.
In 2009, Lamb -- who was appointed to the council following Ann Bradshaw's appointment as Mayor and elected as a Democrat in 2007 -- said his re-election campaign would be done independently from any political party.
After much thought and discussion with his wife, Lamb decided against running for re-election.
"There are several contrasting reasons for coming to this decision," Lamb said. "I am immensely proud of what we, as an administration, have accomplished."
Lamb added he would make a statement following Tuesday's Primary Election, discussing his decision in further detail.
