Kansas City Chiefs Searching for Compliment to Dwayne Bowe in NFL Draft 2011
With a running back like Jamaal Charles in the backfield, a solid passing game can open up the entire offensive playbook.
The problem was the lack of a passing game last season. The Chiefs were the third worst passing team in the NFL, registering only just over 185 passing yards per game.
Kansas City has one of the better receivers in the league with Dwayne Bowe, but a complimentary receiver might be the recipe for more space for all of the receivers and more success for the offense overall.

Draft expert Shawn Zobel told the Kansas City Star:
If Torrey Smith is available, they should at least consider him I’d have no problem with them taking him with the 21st pick if they feel he’s a guy who could add to their offense. He’s a vertical threat, so he would fit in nicely with Dwayne Bowe. They’ve got Moeaki in the middle and (Dexter) McCluster in the slot. That would make for a good offense, especially when you consider they also have Jamaal Charles. If they’re looking for a receiver in the first round, that’s who they’d take.
While it may seem early to take Torrey Smith at the 21 spot of the first round, the Chiefs need to give more tools to Matt Cassel for him to work with.
Cassel has a ton of potential and a solid receiver to help spread the defense out would help alleviate the pressure on the young quarterback.
