The first-ever News-Herald Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year award will be presented during halftime of The News-Herald Senior Bowl, presented by Hooley House, on June 25.
Candidates must be a senior, have at least a 3.5 grade-point average and be a letterwinner in his or her respective sport. Involvement in community services, clubs, groups or organizations is a plus.
Only coaches, administrators or teachers from respective schools can nominate a candidate. All nominations must include a description as to why the candidate is worthy of the award. Coaches, administrators and teachers are encouraged to work together in nominating a candidate.
Finalists will be named prior to The N-H Senior Bowl, with the winner announced on June 25 at Mentor's Jerome T. Osborne Stadium.

A sing-off will be held at The Hooley House, where the winner will be announced. The date of that event will be announced at a later date.
