KS Bank announces personnel moves

Smithfield-based KS Bank has announced a number of personnel moves.David M. Barber of Pine Level has been named a senior vice president and commercial-relationship manager. His primary responsibility is development and management of loans greater than $500,000.Barber has been with KS Bank for eight years and has worked in the financial industry for more than 25 years. At KS Bank, his duties have included sales and management of business loans, consumer loans, deposit products and mortgage loans. Also, he has managed branch personnel and branch profitability.Originally from Rockingham County, Barber has lived in Johnston County for more than 35 years. He attended grade school in the Cleveland community and graduated from South Johnston High in 1979.Barber is a 1983 graduate of Campbell University with a degree in business administration. He completed the Omega Commercial Lending training at East Carolina University's RMA Lending School.Barber serves on the boards of Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action, the United Way of Johnston County and the Johnston County Education Foundation.Barber is married to the former Sherrie Massey of Princeton, and they have one son, Kevin, who attends school at Princeton. The family attends Princeton Church of God.Kelly Pope Aycock has been promoted to vice president and relationship manager for the bank's Selma branch. She is responsible for developing and managing banking relationships with KS Bank customers and for day-to-day management of branch personnel and profitability.Aycock has worked for KS Bank since April of 1999. She has held the positions of loan officer and branch office manager, loan processor and loan-servicing team leader. Also, she has served as manager of the bank's Loan Operations Department, which handles the completion of loan packages and inputting of loan information for all branches.Aycock graduated from North Johnston High School in 1995. She has an associate's degree in paralegal technology from Johnston Community College. Aycock and her husband, Chuck, reside in Pine Level. They have two children, Camden and Carter.William "Bill" C. Clarke has been named commercial-relationship manager for KS Bank in Smithfield and surrounding areas. He is responsible for the development and management of loans greater than $500,000.Clarke has been employed by KS Bank since 1986. He has been a senior mortgage officer, regional president, city executive, branch manager and commercial lending officer.A native of Pine Level, Clarke is a 1974 graduate of North Johnston High School. He received an associate's degree in agriculture from N.C. State University and is a graduate of the National School of Banking in Fairfield, Conn.Clarke is married to the former Susan Smith of Micro, and they have three children, Matthew, Elizabeth and Michael. He is a member of Grace Baptist Church in Princeton, where he serves as a Sunday School teacher.Tammy P. Mitchell has been named manager of deposits and e-banking. In her new role, she is responsible for the development, implementation and sale of all products related to deposits and electronic banking.Mitchell joined KS Bank in 2005 as sales manager and business development-officer. In 21 years in the financial industry, she has been a financial specialist, account manager, branch manager and personal banker.A native of Pine Level, Mitchell graduated in 2009 from the Management Development Program of the N.C. School of Banking. She also graduated with high honors from Barton College in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minor in math. She is a 1986 graduate of North Johnston High School.Mitchell and her husband, Woody, live in Princeton with their daughter, Casey. They attend Tee's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Her parents, Danny and Judy Phillips, reside in Pine Level.Doug Cockrell has been named relationship manager for the Smithfield retail office. He is responsible for developing and managing banking relationships with KS Bank customers and for day-to-day management of branch personnel and profitability.Cockrell has been with KS Bank since 2008 as a mortgage loan officer. Before joining KS Bank, he worked in the construction industry for 20 years.A native of Kenly, Cockrell graduated from Mount Olive College in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, management and operations development. He serves on the Education and Public Policy committees of the Smithfield-Selma Chamber of Commerce. Also, he serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Johnston County and the Small Business Center at Johnston Community College.Cockrell is a 16-year volunteer with Boy Scouting. He and his wife, the former Cary Lane Luper, make their home in Kenly, where they are members of Kenly Free Will Baptist Church.Cockrell is the son of Donald Lee and Joan Cockrell of Kenly.Blair Potter Hester, manager of loan operations, has been named a vice president of the bank.She is responsible for all aspects of the bank's day-to-day lending operations. She directs and administers all loan-processing and maintenance functions and provides direction and guidance for loan research and problem resolution.Hester is married to Gerald Hester and they have two daughters, Ashley and Alaina.
