Zavatsky promoted to Director of Hockey Operations

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced on Tuesday that it has promoted Jeff Zavatsky to Director of Hockey Operations. Zavatsky has worked the past two seasons as Manager of Hockey Operations.

“During Jeff’s time with the League Office he has proven to be a valuable asset to the hockey operations department,” said ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Mike Murray. “This title is a more accurate reflection of Jeff’s numerous responsibilities with the League and what he contributes on a day to day basis.”

Zavatsky is responsible for the organization and release of team rosters, including the daily monitoring of contracts, salary cap, player background and immigration matters while also overseeing all transactions, including trades, waivers, recalls and injuries. He also is responsible for the administration and tracking of all player and team fines while assisting with the discipline process.

He joined the ECHL after working three seasons with the Stockton Thunder, most recently as manager of public relations and team operations. His responsibilities included team travel, player housing, immigration and compliance as well as coordinating movement of players from Stockton to the American Hockey League. Zavatsky was also responsible for community relations and assisted with media relations.

Zavatsky was awarded his bachelor’s degree in political science from Emory University where he was Phi Beta Kappa and received his juris doctor from New York University.
