Govs deliberate on climate change

Asaba — GOVERNORS of the 36 states of the federation are to deliberate on the challenges posed by flooding in their respective states in the second edition of States Climate Change Dialogue, SCCD, slated for next Tuesday, in Asaba.

The event is put together by Delta State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP

Chairman of State Climate Change Team, Mrs. Felicia Adun, said the keynote address will be delivered by the Chairman of the Governors Forum and Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

, while Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State will declare the event, holding at Government House, Asaba, open.

Mrs. Adun said: “The dialogue will raise public awareness on practical mitigation and adaptation measures to address the challenges of climate change in the country and come up with joint programmes for implementation.”

Also expected at the dialogue are chief executive offices of multinational companies, international organisations, the private sector, academia, among others.

The first edition of the States Climate Change Dialogue was hosted by Lagos State in December 2010.
