Fanatics advance ideology

I watched in disbelief as our nation elected Barack Obama president. I awoke the next morning realizing that radicals would control both houses of Congress and the presidency. To make matters worse, it soon became obvious that Al Franken would steal Norm Coleman’s Senate seat. This would give the Senate a 60-seat majority – making it impossible for Republicans to even filibuster legislation.

Perhaps most surprising was how these Democratic politicians stopped being politicians and became fanatics bent on advancing ideology. As Democrats decided to govern against the will of the people, each vote was taken like a Japanese kamikaze pilot hitting a U.S. battleship. To guys like Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and Rep. Earl Pomeroy, R-N.D., re-election no longer mattered. They committed political suicide because their radical ideology was more important to them than their long-term political careers.

Though Pomeroy was the only one to lose an election, there is no question Dorgan and Conrad would have suffered the same fate had they run again.

The foolhardiness of the Democrats knew no bounds. Despite early signs that their unread trillion-dollar Keynesian stimulus plan would be a failure, the Democrats marched in lock step and passed the unpopular Obamacare bill. Without even stopping to consider how one would pay for this $2 trillion health care entitlement monstrosity – the Democrats committed this nation to trillion-dollar deficits with no end in sight.

Now, laughably, the Democrats and liberal pundits are attempting to blame the tea party for our nation’s woes. Standard & Poor’s recently downgraded our nation’s credit rating to AA+ because Democratic politicians were unwilling to restructure our unsustainable entitlement programs. These goose-steppers have blocked passage of the Balanced Budget Amendment since the mid-1990s.

Their most recent obstruction took place on July 22, when the Senate Democrats voted to table the tea party-backed “Cut, Cap, and Balance” Bill. The Balanced Budget Amendment is supported by 75 percent of the population, and we are told that the tea partyers are the foolish ones. This is nonsense.

Blind ideology, folks. Great nations have been destroyed by ideology in the past, and Democrats are fast destroying this nation thanks to devotion to their ideology. This is obvious in their inability to tolerate dissent.

We watch as Vice President Joe Biden calls the tea partyers “terrorists.” Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., calls on the tea partyers to give up their First Amendment rights, and former Vice President Al Gore goes on a vulgar rant directed at anyone who does not bow before the altar of global warming.

The kamikazes destroyed Japan and they are fast destroying the United States. The tea partyers are not the ideologues. The kamikazes are the Democrats.
