Employment fair aimed at veteran job seekers | Richmond Times-Dispatch

Job seekers with military backgrounds examined the possibilities at the Opportunity Expo  at Richmond International Raceway  today.

RecruitMilitary invited veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other military family members to the event.

About 130 job seekers were on hand shortly after the doors opened this morning, checking out the opportunties offered by approximately 30 company representatives. By 1 p.m. about 300 people had gone through.

The veterans were able to interview and network with employers with national, regional and local operations, as well as franchisors and educational institutions.

Signed up to participate were Capital One, Cornerstone Senior, DeVry University, Education Corporation of America-Virginia College, Grand Canyon University, Homeland Security Solutions Inc., Lockheed Martin Corp., Merchant’s Tire and National Tire & Battery, Military Sealift Command, Morgan State University, Naval Supply Systems Command, New York Life, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Pepco Holdings Inc., State Farm Insurance Co., Strayer University, The Art Institutes, The Sandi Group, TMX Finance, Troops to Teachers, Troy University, United Rentals, Walgreens, and Wellpoint Inc.
