Cult related war reared its ugly head again in Umule community in Aniocha South local Government Area of Delta State when a middle aged man identified as Onyekwuli was allegedly stabbed to death by suspected cultists.
Onyekwli was allegedly murdered by the suspected cultists following minor squabbles that ensued between him and the alleged killers last Wednesday.
Leadership reliably gathered that the circumstances that led to the quarrel and which resulted in the killing of the man might not be unconnected with the allegation that the victim had challenged some members of the gang who was beating his younger sister.
Expectedly, the cultists allegedly descended on the man and beat him to death. They escaped while three of them in the process were apprehended by neighbours who got wind of their dastardly act.
Police spokesman in the state, ASP Charles Muka confirmed that the suspects were still helping the police in their investigation and added that the situation in the community has been brought under control with more police detectives deployed to the area.
Meanwhile, a 62-year old man identified as Joseph popularly called Ajose has been shot dead by suspected robbers in Chris Ogala Street Agbor-Ika South Local Government Area of the state.
Joseph, reports indicated, a timber dealer at Baleke Plank shade was said to have gone to bed when the hoodlums stormed his residence to carry out the evil act.
Family sources said they were woken up by the sudden entrance of the suspected hoodlums who on entering the sitting room where the children laid, demanded for their cell phones leading to their father (Joseph) coming out from his bedroom to know what was going on.
He was said to be midway between his bed and his living room when one of the suspected robbers pushed him back into the bedroom and shot him.
ASP Charles Muka police spokesman however confirmed that the man was killed by robbers.
