Everett Glenn "Sonny" Applegate, 68, of Oak Street, Maysville, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Mr. Applegate was retired from Ohio Pattern Works in Cincinnati. He attended the Shepherd's House Church, was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge and was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast. He loved participating in local charity bike runs, parades and always rode in "Toys for Tots" Annual Christmas Bike Ride.
Mr. Applegate was born in Mason County, on July 31, 1943, the son of the late Glenn and Jennie Hitt Applegate.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Arthurs Applegate; four sons, Jimmy Gilbert, Mark Applegate (Angie), Troy Applegate (Melissa) and Kelly Applegate (Lisa), all of Maysville; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Gilbert (Tara), Derek Gilbert (Amanda), Macenzie Gilbert, Gunnar Applegate, Justin Lacy, Kaylee Applegate and Ashlee Applegate; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia Gilbert and Aiden Gilbert. He is also survived by one brother, Tom Applegate (Linda) of Maysville; and two sisters, Rena Wheeler of Maysville and Delores Spencer (Kenneth) of Lexington.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Blaine Applegate; and two sisters, Naomi Sheeler and Nellie Applegate.
Services for Sonny Applegate will be held at the Olivet United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, with Pastor Gordon Jones officiating.
Burial will be in the Olivet Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Darrell Muncy, Wayne Mason, Jerome Thornton, Nicholas Gilbert, Derek Gilbert and Doug Johnson.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
