Phish hadn't played a show in Vermont, the band's home state, since 2004. When they did play in Essex Junction on Wednesday, the band was in a state changed by the damage from Hurricane Irene, which caused devastating flooding throughout the state's southern cities and towns.
Relief bills got a little lighter after the concert, which raised $1.2 million to help victims of the disaster, the Associated Press reported . The band announced that all proceeds from the show, attended by 12,000 people, will be donated to two in-state charities to help flood victims.
