An Annapolis man was arrested in connection with the rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old Annapolis girl.
William Ashley Pickett of Royal Street in Annapolis was arrested in District Heights, MD, early Thursday morning, according to a media release. Prince George’s County Police and District Heights Police assisted in the arrest.
Police said the incident occurred on the morning of Sept. 12 and was reported by the victim on Sept. 13. A warrant was issued for Pickett on Sept. 14.
The victim told police she left her home and was walking past Picketts’ home. According to the release, police said Pickett invited her into his home and forcibly sexually assaulted and raped her.
The victim told police she knew Pickett.
Updated 5 p.m. -Police said the alleged incident occurred between 6:20 and 7:20 a.m. Monday.
According to the police report, the girl was walking to her bus stop on the morning of the incident. The girl told police she was approached by a man she knew from the neighborhood. The man later guided her to a house in the neighborhood where she was sexually assaulted, according to the report.
The girl went to school that morning, and when she came home she decided to tell her mother about it. The victim’s mother reported the incident around 2:39 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
