6:45 p.m.: Police have confirmed that two people are dead after a shooting at a Lowe's Home Improvement store in Concord.
Emergency crews are on the scene at 3025 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, where Lowe's Corporate Headquarters has confirmed that one of the deceased is a store employee, according to the Independent Tribune's news partner WSOC-TV.com.
Concord interim Police Chief Guy Smith said the deceased are a male and female who knew each other, but declined to comment further. No additional suspects are being sought, police said.
The shooting took place about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Names of the victims have not been released.
Officers have blocked the store entrance with police tape as the investigation continues.
While the store's mailing address is in Kannapolis, it sits within Concord Police Department's jurisdiction. Concord Police are among those on the scene investigating.
