Well, so much for the Temple speculation.
Steve Addazio, rumored to have interviewed for the Owls vacancy Monday, has instead apparently decided to head in a westerly direction and remain an assistant on someone else’s coaching staff.
The Florida offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports/rumors, appears to either be on the verge of being hired or has been hired as Texas’ new offensive line coach. In addition to his coordinator duties with the Gators, he was also Urban Meyer‘s line coach for the past five seasons.
Addazio will reportedly coach in UF’s bowl game against Penn State before heading to the ‘Horns.
Take this latest round of speculation regarding Mack Brown‘s UT staff with a sizable grain of salt, however, as the school has yet to confirm the hire. And, as we all learned with the Austin-to-Austin situation — as well as with Tennessee’s Justin Wilcox being in serious talks with the school — just because it’s reported doesn’t make it correct. Or even remotely accurate.
UPDATED 6:16 p.m. ET: Yeah, didn’t see this coming. A Texas spokesperson has denied the reports of Addazio’s hiring to the Dallas Morning News, saying that “no jobs have been offered.”
