ROCK. Less than a month after he headlined a concert at the Illinois State Fair, Luke Bryan returns to central Illinois to perform at Concert in the Cornfield, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in South Jacksonville. Gloriana opens the show at 7 p.m. The concert is behind the Comfort Inn, 200 Comfort Drive. Concert in the Cornfield is part of the South Jacksonville Centennial Celebration on Friday through Sunday, with food vendors, a beer tent, a parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, contests Saturday afternoon and a veterans memorial Sunday.

PICK. Dozens of musicians are expected to participate in the 31st annual Traditional Music and Bluegrass Festival this weekend at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site, near Petersburg. Bluegrass bands will perform from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday on stage in the outdoor theater, while individual artists will jam in the village from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Traditional, folk and bluegrass musicians are invited to participate in the daytime jam sessions, and cloggers can dance on a platform outside the village beginning at noon Sunday. Admission is free but there is a suggested donation of $4 for adults, $2 for children or $10 per family.

DIVE. The four-time Oscar nominee “ The Diving Bell and the Butterfly ” gets a free screening at 7 p.m. Friday in Brookens Auditorium, and is part of the UIS Foreign & Independent Film Series. The film tells the real-life story of French Elle editor Jean-Dominique Bauby, who is left paralyzed by a stroke. He can only communicate by blinking his left eye, and in that way dictated an entire memoir that was published before his death in 1997. Quoth AP critic Christy Lemire : “Astonishingly beautiful and self-consciously so, [the film] never ceases to remind you that it is a work of art.”
