Faces and Places: State Bank names chief financial officer - Business - Macon.com

Prior to State Bank, Black was director of corporate strategy with First Horizon National Corp. in Memphis, Tenn.

OrthoGeorgia announced the hiring of two new doctors in its practice, Dr. Sam Koo and Dr. Wayne Kelly Jr. Koo completed his undergraduate education in biology at Emory University in Atlanta. He received his doctoral degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and completed an orthopaedic residency at the Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta. He has participated in numerous orthopaedic research studies and has presented at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society annual meeting. He speaks English and Korean fluently.

Kelly completed degrees in biochemistry and chemistry at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.. He received his doctoral degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed an orthopaedic residency at Duke University Medical Center. Following residency, Kelly spent a year completing a spine fellowship appointment at OrthoCarolina.

Advanced Disposal Services Inc. announced the promotion of Adam Cochran to general manager of the company’s Macon hauling location. Cochran leaves his post as municipal marketing and government affairs manager for the company’s Middle Georgia area to take on responsibility for the Macon operations. Cochran began his career with Advanced Disposal in 2006 as a waste consultant, and worked as operations manager for more than two years before stepping into a municipal marketing role.

Also, Kevin Rupinta was promoted to general manager of the company’s Augusta hauling location. Rupinta leaves his post as general manager of the company’s Clay and St. Johns County operations to take on responsibility for the larger operation in Georgia, which includes a hauling facility, transfer station and significant commercial operations.

Dr. Ty Ivey, a long-established general dentist in Macon, has been honored with a Georgia Dental Association Presidential Commendation. Ivey graduated from Mercer University in 1964 and the Emory University School of Dentistry in Atlanta in 1968. He established his dentistry practice in Macon in July 1970. He is a Past President and Honorable Fellow of the GDA.

Corrections Corporation of America announced that McRae Correctional Facility volunteer Elder William Thomas is one of six recipients of the 2011 Pete Spackman Volunteer of the Year Award. Elder Thomas has volunteered at McRae Correctional Facility for more than six years and is affiliated with Wimbish Road Prison Ministry in Macon.
