HAMILTON started their pre-season programme on Friday with a comfortable 2-0 win over Third Division side Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park.
Trialist striker Derek Lyle, previously on Accies’ books, netted Hamilton’s opener from the spot in the fifth minute after Dougie Imrie had been tripped inside the box.
Substitute Grant Anderson grabbed the second goal in 74 minutes.

Accies continued their pre-season programme on Tuesday with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Gretna FC 2008 at Raydale Park.
Accies took the lead through Grant Anderson after just 11 minutes and had the luxury of a penalty miss by trialist Derek Lyle on 29 minutes, before defender Mark McLaughlin headed in a Lyle corner four minutes later.
A Stephen Hendrie pass set up Simon Mensing goal for Accies’ third in 34 minutes and Jordan Kirkpatrick completed the scoring with three minutes remaining.

On Saturday, an Accies XI took part in the annual Keyline Challenge Cup tournament, hosted by Oban Saints.
The county side finished third in the competition, which was won by Alloa Athletic, with Dundee United runners-up.
After beating Hearts 4-0 (Trialist 2 pens, Ryan, Kilday), Accies drew 0-0 with Alloa and beat Oban Saints 1-0 (Fraser).
Accies finished with 1-1 draws against St Johnstone and Dundee United, with goals from Brian McQueen and Lee Kilday.
l Motherwell continued their pre-season programme with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Second Division Dumbarton at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Saturday.
A first-half brace from Jamie Murphy gave Motherwell a commanding interval lead, with Nicky Law, Bob McHugh and Steve Saunders netting in the second half.
Motherwell boss Stuart McCall said: “I was very pleased with the application of the players from the first minute to the last.
“I’d like to think that with the team we have got and the quality we have in it, we will create chances.
“There was some pleasing football and it was a good workout for us.”
