BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Victor Oladipo was named Big Ten Player of the Week and freshman Cody Zeller was named Co-Freshman of the Week after their performances in Indiana's first two games of the season.
Oladipo, a 6-5 guard from Hyattville, Md., tied his career-high with 16 points in the Hoosiers' season-opener against Stony Brook on Nov. 11, before setting a new career mark with 21 points against Chattanooga on Nov. 13. He averaged 18.5 points per game and shot 72.2 percent from the floor, leading IU to a 2-0 record for the fifth-straight season. Oladipo sank 76.9 percent from the free throw line and registered 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per contest.
IU's last Player of the Week was D.J. White on Feb. 4, 2008.
Zeller, a 6-11 forward from Washington, Ind., averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 77.8 percent from the field in the two Hoosier victories. He set an Indiana freshman record with six steals against Chattanooga on Nov. 13 and recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards against Stony Brook on Nov. 11 in his collegiate debut.
Zeller is the first player from Indiana to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
The Hoosiers return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when they travel south to take on Evansville at 8 p.m ET. Wednesday's game will air on ESPN3.com and the IU Radio Network.
