Today. The Bayou Bandits volleyball club is seeking girl volleyball players ages 8-18 who are looking to join the non-profit organization. Any girl wanting to play volleyball is eligible to join. Prior volleyball experience or knowledge for young players is not necessary. The coaching staff will consist of local volleyball coaches in Chip Didier, Peter Verret III, Craig Hamner, Chelsey Nicholas, Alan Knight, Dani Daigle and other high school coaches and staff. All age groups will play in about five-to-six tournaments during the months of January to April. Every player will be charged a fee. Dec. 3. A Houma-Thibodaux based 12U travel baseball team will hold tryouts for two open spots at the Broadmoor Baseball Fields on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. The spots are open to players from throughout the area. For information, call 226-8205.

Wednesday. Academy Sports and Outdoors and Capital One Bank present the Bayou Lafourche Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana's annual membership banquet on Nov. 30 at the Nicholls State Cotillion Ballroom in Thibodaux. Festivities begin with an open bar and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m. and the live auction begins 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person, which includes a one-year membership in CCA, admission, dinner and open bar. The evening will feature a live auction for some of the finest hunting and fishing trips in Louisiana as well as around the world. This CCA event will be an evening of family fun. Anglers are encouraged to bring the whole family. Special priced spouse/associate tickets are available for $30 and youth tickets (17-and-under) are $25. Dec. 27-28. The E.D. White Catholic Holiday Baseball Camp is set for Dec. 27-28 at the school's baseball field and is open for boys 5-13. The time is from 9 a.m. to noon each day and players will learn from E.D. White coach Shane Trosclair, his staff and players. The cost is $65 per camper. Jan. 24. On the heels of signing one of the best rookie classes in team history, the Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 2012 World Tour to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. Tickets to see the world's most famous basketball team will go on sale on Monday at 10 a.m. Tickets start at $25 and are available at www.harlemglobetrotters.com, www.ticketmaster.com, the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center box office or by phone at 800-745-3000. The outstanding rookies include Paul "Tiny" Sturgess, the world's tallest pro basketball player at 7-foot-8, Jonte "Too Tall" Hall, the shortest Globetrotter ever at 5-2, and Fatima "TNT" Maddox of Temple University, the team's first female player since 1993 and ninth female in team history. The new Globetrotters also feature the top three finishers from the 2011 College Slam Dunk Contest, including the reigning champ Jacob "Hops" Tucker. At 5-10, Tucker sports a 50-inch vertical leap, and his YouTube videos have garnered well over 4 million views.
