Memphis, Tn - Fox 13 News has confirmed that University of Memphis football coach Larry Porter has been fired. Porter coached the Tigers for two seasons.
The news comes after the U of M football team lost a decisive victory to Southern Miss on Saturday.
The Tigers went 3-21 over the past two years.
"We want to thank Coach Porter for his efforts as our football coach, but believe that it is in the best interest of our program to make a change at this point," said Memphis Athletic Director R.C. Johnson.
Porter came to the U of M after an extremely successful recruiting career as an assistant coach at LSU.
