Stewart Mandel

After beating the Gators, Florida State is now projected to play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Auburn.

Things are starting to become pretty clear, and I only made a few changes from last week, none in the BCS bowls. The ACC lineup shuffled considerably, with Florida State moving up to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, sending Clemson to the Champs Sports Bowl. The Orlando game really wants to match FSU and Notre Dame, but the Atlanta game would have to either pass on 7-5 Auburn for 6-6 Florida or voluntarily take a Clemson team that would have lost three straight games.

From Playing Fields to the Broadcast Booth

Former Hawkeye Danan Hughes now with the Big Ten Network

Danan Hughes was the first Hawkeye football player to catch 21 touchdown passes in a career.

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Danan Hughes played professional baseball and football after graduating from the University of Iowa, but it was the sport of wrestling that ultimately swayed him to become a Hawkeye.

the Gekko File: Colorado - UW Dawg Pound

This week's Gekko File documents the Colorado Buffaloes.  The University of Colorado is a beautiful campus situated in the surprisingly small town of Boulder.  Boulder is actually only 25 miles away from Denver and it sits at the base of the Rockies, about 5,500 feet in elevation.

Ex-Nebraska quarterback Cody Green to play for TU | Tulsa World

Former Nebraska quarterback Cody Green appears to be headed to the University of Tulsa to play his final two college seasons.

Green, rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com out of high school, communicated his intentions to the TU coaching staff, the Tulsa World learned, but repeated efforts to contact the 6-foot-4, 235-pounder were unsuccessful.

Pelini anticipates an improved Martinez

CHICAGO -- The turning point in Nebraska's final season in the Big 12 in 2010 came in the second half of the Cornhuskers' 9-6 loss at Texas A&M on Nov. 20.

After then-freshman quarterback Taylor Martinez re-injured his right ankle in the first half, he was berated on the sideline by coach Bo Pelini for, of all things, answering his father's phone call in the locker room. Nebraska's players are prohibited from making phone calls during games.

Cousins, Michigan State fine with entering season under the radar

CHICAGO — OK, so we can’t prove this. But you can trust our estimate that, over two days in which the coach and three players from each Big Ten school met with the media, the name Taylor Martinez was spoken 10 times more than the name Kirk Cousins.

And Nebraska’s quarterback — unlike Cousins, his counterpart from Michigan State — wasn’t even here.

Husker players say building chemistry a team offseason goal

NU coach Bo Pelini, running back Rex Burkhead, defensive lineman Jared Crick and linebacker Lavonte David address the media during the Big Ten Media Days in Chicago on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Related Links Related: More Big Ten Media Days coverage

Intriguing storylines for the 2011 college football season - College Football -MCT - Macon.com

Today, though, we're highlighting some of the less obvious "story line" games, not including annual rivalry games and the blatantly obvious great non-conference matchups. These are not necessarily the best games of the season (though some will be important on a national scale), but these are games interesting for the back stories or the personalities involved in addition to the action on the field.

Gregg Bell Unleashed: Kanczugowski, Domanski Share Most Unique Routes To Becoming Huskies

Walk-ons' parents fled Poland 3 decades ago to escape Communism

SEATTLE - Every Husky has a story on how he or she got to UW.

I haven't found anyone's as intriguing as walk-on offensive linemen Daniel Kanczugowski's and Marek Domanski's .

After years of threats, someone is finally going to take the BCS to court. Utah attorney general Mark Shurtleff has pledged to file an antitrust suit against the BCS in federal court within the next two months. Naturally, the rhetoric coming out of the hollowed-out volcano that serves as BCS headquarters is that any negative legal consequences would send conferences rushing into the arms of the old bowl, pre-Alliance, pre-Coalition, pre-BCS bowl system.

The Great Crimson Toes from Spokane

JASON HANSON, the ageless Detroit Lions star, is the most famous Cougar kicker to come out of Spokane, but he is by no means the Lilac City's only contribution to ol' Wazzu's leg legacy. Unofficially speaking, the record suggests that no place in these United States has produced more outstanding kickers for the Cougs than Spokane.

How new tight ends alter UW offense

Washington tight end Michael Hartvigson has impressed throughout the spring. / Kyle Scholzen, Sportspress Northwest

Months had passed, yet Steve Sarkisian was still full of disdain.

He must have blasted through a mental montage of bad routes, bad blocking and pervasive ineffectiveness from the tight end position last year when asked about the dramatic changes in spring football at the position.

Huskies | How far can Alameda Ta'amu carry Huskies defense in 2011? | Seattle Times Newspaper

First, Alameda Ta'amu had to figure out how to carry the weight of added responsibility.

Once he did, the unwanted pounds on his body began to drip off.

And feeling more grounded off the field, but lighter on it, the University of Washington defensive tackle began last year to fulfill the vast potential everyone always envisioned.

Washington Huskies Football: Looking Ahead to the 2011 Husky Season | Bleacher Report

With spring practice underway, the 2011 Huskies look ahead to what should be a bright future.

After finishing third in the Pac-10 and ending the season with three straight wins against UCLA, Cal and Washington State to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2002, head coach Steve Sarkisian has his players’ eyes on the prize.

Earlier in the evening, a potluck supper was enjoyed.

Breaking down the Big Ten

Which players will emerge as stars? How will unbalanced schedules help Iowa and hurt Nebraska? Which teams will meet in the first Big Ten championship game? We've got your answers (and a lot more).

The emergence of Taylor Martinez gave Nebraska a promising start and a top-10 ranking. But things fell apart the last four games, bottoming out with a 19-7 loss to Washington in the Holiday Bowl. The Huskers just missed a Big 12 championship for the second straight year.

10 Pro Venues That Should Host the BCS National Championship Game

Anyone who has been watching college football for a few years knows the rotation of locations for the BCS National Championship Game: University of Phoenix Stadium Sun Life Stadium (Dolphins' Stadium) Rose Bowl

Don't get me wrong, these three venues are great, but we're getting to the point where some variety would be more than welcome, and there are plenty of venues around that are more than capable of hosting the biggest game in college football.
