Monday, November 28It’s opening night for the 10th Anniversary ofAmerican Theater Company’s It’s A Wonderful Life: The Radio Play. Adapted from Frank Capra’s iconic film and directed by ATC Artistic Associate Jason Gerace, the 7:00 pm performance will be followed with milk and cookies in the lobby at 1909 West Byron Street in Chicago.
Tuesday, November 29Lyric Opera’s Discovery Series focuses on The Magic Flute with an all-star panel including Lyric’s own Nicole Cabell (Pamina), Charles Castronovo (Tamino), Stéphane Degout (Papageno), and Sir Andrew Davis who will discuss Mozart’s final opera and the ideals of the Enlightenment. Wednesday, November 30Create delicious holiday gifts by attending the Sunset Foods Sugar and Spice Cooking Class from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm in Lake Forest. Thursday, December 1The Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra: Holiday Concert at 7:30 pm features Fanstasia on Greensleeves by Ralph Vaughan Williams; Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in G Minor (Christmas Concerto); Respighi’s Trittico Botticelliano; and Tchaikovsky’s Suite No. 1 from The Nutcracker. Admission is $8 for the general public and $5 for full-time students with IDs.

Saturday, December 3The Off-Air Series will close out the year with What’s Your Art? Celebrating the Art Centers of Chicago at the Chicago Cultural Center Yates Hall on 78 East Washington. Sunday, December 4At 10:40 am, Northwestern’s Alice Millar Chapel will host the A Festival of Lessons and Carols conducted by Stephen Alltop. the program features performances by the Alice Millar Chapel Choir, Northwestern University Philharmonia, Millar Brass Ensemble and faculty oboist Michael Henoch. Ranging from early baroque to contemporary, the carol settings for brass, strings, organ and choir include Nelhybel’s Estampie natalis and Gabrieli’s Magnificat a 14 for three choirs.
