Major Midget Hawks now unbeaten in 10 games

The Quinte West Major Midget Hawks swept a home-and-home series with the Lindsay Muskies on the weekend to run their Lakeshore Hockey League unbeaten streak to 10 games.

The first-place Hawks (12-2-2) clipped the Muskies 4-3 Saturday in Lindsay.

Ryan Klemencic led the Hawks' attack with two goals, including the game winner, while Alex Leclerc added a goal and three assists. Colin Childerhose scored the other goal, with additional helpers to Griffin Rupnow (2), Zach Hiscock (2), and Andy Paul. Patrick Quinn earned the win in net.

Sunday at the Community Gardens, the Hawks whipped the Muskies 6-1.

Cole Hamilton had two goals and two assists to lead the Hawks' offence, while Klemencic also scored twice, and Paul and Leclerc potted the other goals. Assists came from Rupnow (4), Childerhose (2), Hiscock (2), Austin Shillington, and Jonathan Rood.Mathieu St. Amant picked up the win in net.

The Hawks host the second-place Cobourg Cougars (9-1-2) Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Gardens.

The D. Koets Plumbing Minor Atom Hawks won, lost and tied on the weekend.

On Saturday in Whitby, the Hawks dropped a 4-0 decision to Whitby Wildcats White.

They bounced back Sunday at the Community Gardens with a 2-1 win over Whitby Wildcats Blue.

Dylan Wright and Chris Scaletta scored for the Hawks, with assists to Dylan Foster, Melissa Lajoie, Brayden Mason, and Anders Lange.

Monday at the Gardens, the Hawks battled the Kingston Canadiens to a 2-2 draw.

Lajoie and Andrew Wood scored for the Hawks.

The Hawks' record now stands at 4-5-4. They return to action Saturday in Bowmanville against the Clarington Toros. Sunday they head to Belleville to face the Jr. Bulls.

The Minor Peewee Hawks split a pair of games on the weekend, blanking the Uxbridge Stars 4-0 Saturday at the Gardens.

Michael Andrews, Benny Scarr-Crosmas, Trevor Defosse and Nolan Smits scored for the Hawks, who held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0. Assists came from Smits, Defosse and Colin Barry, while Christian Anderson made 27 saves to record the shutout. Isaac Snider was named player of the game for his hard work in the defensive zone.

Hawks coach Jim McKenzie expressed his thanks and praise to both Nolan Smits and Quin Scott, who moved up to play the wing for the game, giving an excellent effort.

Last Thursday in Whitby, the Hawks dropped a 5-2 decision to the Wildcats Blue team.

Daniel Eden and Defosse scored for the Hawks, while assists came from Jonah Smits and Chase Goodfellow. Dylan McKenzie turned in a strong effort in net despite taking the loss.

The Hawks now sport a record of 10-5-1. Tonight the Hawks host the first place Belleville Jr. Bulls (15-1-0) at 6 p.m. at the Gardens. Friday they host the Oshawa Generals at 7:30 p.m. at the Frankford Arena.

The Scaletta Group Novice 'A' Hawks hammered the Clarington Toros 10-1 Sunday at the Gardens to improve their first-place record to 12-1-1.

Zack Brooks led the onslaught with four goals pus two assists, while Kendrick Webster added two goals and an assist. Luke Belej also scored twice, with Andrew DiCresce picking up a goal and an assist. Evan Jerrett scored the other goal, with additional helpers to Brodey Brooks (3), Ashley Taylor (2), Brock Sallans, and Matthew Lombardi.

Caden Deery turned in another strong effort in net to earn the win.

The Hawks are off from league play now until a home-and-home series with the Port Perry Predators (7-6-1) Saturday, Dec. 10 in Port Perry, and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Gardens.

The Quinte West Juvenile Hawks ran their undefeated Eastern Ontario Hockey League record to 8-0-2 by battling the Ennismore Eagles to a 3-3 draw Monday in Frankford.

The Hawks have had a busy schedule lately with five games in nine days, coming out with four wins and a tie during the stretch.

Mitch Sweet has played tremendously in net for the Hawks picking up three shutouts and allowing just four goals in five games - three of which were in the tie game against undefeated Ennismore (7-0-1).

The Hawks have had a total team output from both the offence and the defence during the stretch, outscoring the competion 23-4 in the last five games.

The Hawks three games in three nights this weekend, heading to Ennismore Friday for a rematch with the Eagles, hosting the Stirling Blues (3-4-1)Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Community Gardens, and heading to Amherstview Sunday to face the Loyalist Jets (1-5-0).

The 413 Wing Minor Bantam dumped the Whitby Wildcats White squad 5-2 Sunday at the Gardens to improve their Lakeshore League record to 12-5-0.

Hawks' captain Matthew Tedford paced the offence with a hat trick, while Justin Lewis added a goal and an assist. Mason Hum scored the other goal, with additional assists to Nick Jones and Dawson Whyte.

The Hawks don't return to league action until Friday, Dec. 9 when they travel to Cobourg to face the second-place Cougars (13-0-3). They're in Kingston on Dec. 10 to face the Canadiens (2-10-2), and then host the first-place Belleville Jr. Bulls (14-2-2) Sunday, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Gardens.

The Novice AE Hawks edged the Belleville Jr. Bulls 2-1 Saturday in Lakeshore League action at the Gardens.

Leland Pynch and Tyler Robinson scored for the Hawks, while Jet Butler added one assist. Dylan Prinzen earned the win in net.

The Hawks' record now stands at 6-6-1. The Hawks return to action Saturday, Dec. 3 when they host the Pickering Panthers at 1 p.m. at the Gardens.
