Stephen Gaghan Brought in to Rewrite M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘One Thousand A.E.’
M. Night Shyamalan has had a long streak of churning out awful films. But he is looking to redeem himself with the Will and Jaden Smith lead One Thousand A. E.. Not only that the director has brought Traffic and Syriana writer Stephen Gaghan to pen the rewrites to Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) original script. M. Night Shyamalan also worked on the script. One Thousand A.E. will focus on a father-son space team that crash lands on the planet earth one thousand years after mankind abandoned the planet. With his father badly injured, the son ventures out into the mysterious and dangerous planet.
According to Variety this will be the first time that the Shyamalan won’t be using a script that he wrote himself. And that may be a good thing given that the last few scripts he has written were critical failures. Maybe a look at another script may the be inspiration he needs. Course it does help to have Stephen Gaghan to do some rerwrites as well. And he could be just the person to bring back Shyamalan to the glory he once had for a very short time.
