Florida pays OC Charlie Weis huge salary

Florida is sparing no expense in its effort to maintain elite status in college football. That means paying new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis an astounding $2.625 million over the next three years.

The Palm Beach Post reported the salaries of all of coach Will Muschamp¹s assistants. Not surprisingly, Weis is the most handsomely compensated.

Weis will make more than he made as head coach at Notre Dame. The Chicago Tribune reported last year that Weis earned $649,000, including base salary, bonuses, "other" income, deferred income and non-taxable benefits.

The Tribune said Weis earned $850,000 from Adidas and about $1.3 million for media appearances and other compensation from Play By Play Sports.

At Florida, the former Kansas City Chiefs coordinator will get $765,000 this year, then $865,000 annually over the next two years, according to the Post. He also received a $100,000 signing bonus and gets a $10,000 supplement for wearing Nike apparel.

Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn¹s base salary is $500,000, and he signed a two-year contract.

Florida is saving on head-coaching salary versus last year. Urban Meyer earned roughly $4 million in base pay, while, Muschamp will make $2.7 million per year for five years. The University Athletic Association confirmed Muschamp¹s salary in December, but his contract has not been made public yet, according to the Palm Beach Post.
