Prince William Valor Awards to honor heroes in public service

MANASSAS — The Prince William Chamber of Commerce announces the Prince William Valor Awards on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Foxchase Manor in Manassas. Honoring the men and women in public service who protect the homes and businesses of greater Prince William , the awards are in their 25th year and are sponsored by Sentara Potomac Hospital . Jim Vance, NBC4, will narrate the stories of the heroes being honored. To register to attend, call (703) 368-6600. Registration is $30 and includes lunch and a commemorative program. 

Fredericksburg Area Museum And Cultural Center launches campaign

FREDERICKSBURG — In an effort to increase and promote awareness of the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, the center is announcing its new membership drive.  FAMCC has partnered with the region’s most active environmental non-profit, Friends of the Rappahannock. Visit famcc.org for more information.  

VDBA workshop to be held at Germanna Community College 

FREDERICKSBURG — Virginia Department of Business Assistance is to host a workshop Nuts & Bolts, Starting & Growing Your Business, for aspiring entrepreneurs and developing businesses on March 22. The workshop will be held at Germanna Community College's Workforce Building at 10000 Germanna Point Drive at 8:30 a.m. This is a free, half-day training session. vastartup.org. 

STAFFORD — The 5th Annual SkillsUSA Car Show will be hosted by North Stafford High School on March 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $15 per vehicle and spectators are free. The car show benefits the SkillsUSA chapters at Stafford and North Stafford high schools. Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center hosts civil war project

FREDERICKSBURG —The Virginia Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Commission and the Library of Virginia have partnered to create a statewide online collection of original Civil War manuscripts that still remain in private hands. Staff will be visiting the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Museum’s Catherine W. Jones McKann Center . Appointments are currently being made and are strongly encouraged. A limited number of walk-ins will be accommodated, as scheduling allows.
