Couple is first to get married on St. Patrick's Day

NEWPORT, Ky. - A Tri-State couple made sure they were the first to tie the knot this St. Patrick's Day with a midnight wedding.

Local firefighter Jack Shields and his new wife Tricia are big fans of St. Patty's, so they decided to get married at the stroke of 12 a.m. Thursday.

The wedding was held at Beef O' Brady's in Newport, a venue the couple says they visit a few times a week.

Chicken wings and green beer were served as part of the celebration.

Jack Shields has a shamrock tattoo, further showing his love of the holiday and the couple says March Madness and the easy-to-remember anniversary date were other reasons for the timing.
