The big three of Jonathan Papelbon , Daniel Dard and Bobby Jenks have been getting all the hype this spring training, but Rhode Island native Dan Wheeler 's homecoming will likely be just as important to the Red Sox' success this season.
The former Tampa Bay Ray reliever is relishing the opportunity to play for the team he grew up pulling for. The veteran's experience as a starter, setup man, and closer will undoubtedly come in handy this season as the Sox look to make a deep run in October.
Wheeler said he was excited to make the transition from Tampa to Boston, but he left with some high praise for former manager Joe Maddon, as he discussed the differences in the Rays from his first experience with the organization (1999-01) to his second (2008-10).
Don Orsillo spoke to the new Sox reliever at spring training this week. Check out the interview in the video above.
