And the winner who gets to host their OWN show is... - National If I Can Dream | Examiner.com

BOTH of them!! On the season finale of 'Your OWN show: Oprah's Search for the Next Star,' airing now on the OWN network, Oprah crowned both two finalists, Zach Anner & Kristina Kuzmic-Crocco, with the honor of getting to host their own show on the OWN network!

Their shows are entitled, 'Kristina's Fearless Kitchen' & 'Rolling Round The World With Zach Anner' & will be executive produced by Mark Burnett, famous for producing hit shows like 'Apprentice' & 'Survivor.' This week the pressure was on as Mark Burnett was the guest mentor & the final two had to produce a 3 minute pilot presentation of their idea, in the hopes of getting to produce host their own show. Each show couldn't be more opposite from the other, but both have one thing in common, the wannabee hosts behind the show ideas are inspiring and prove to us all that no matter what background you come from or what your circumstances are, if you believe in yourself & dare to dream big & go for it, you can have your wildest dreams come true.

Mark Burnett's advice to the two was to be 'authentic' & to 'bring to light your own truth' as that is what Oprah is looking for. He said half his life is pitching ideas. He liked both Kristina & Zach's ideas but said that 'its going to come down to the execution of the idea in the end that it's what's on screen that's going to matter.'

Both Team Kristina & Team Zach had help in their final challenge in creating their pilot presentation, from former castmates who came back on the final episode to assist. Kristina's 'Fearless Kitchen' show is like an ambush makeover show except for it's aimed at those who are cooking challenged. In her pilot she targets a guy at a fast food restaurant ands then drags him into the kitchen to prove that cooking can be a fun and is a lot easier than it looks. She offers up tidbits of advice she's learned along the way.  Kristina is inspiring in that she said she was on foodstamps just three years ago. She did not have a background in television & had a lot to learn. Cooking in your kitchen is a lot different than cooking for a TV audience. Assisting her with this final & most important challenge was an experienced culinary producer. I like Kristina's tagline that 'Everything in life should end in chocolate." I agree.

Zach's 'Rolling Round the World' show's goal was to be a more authentic travel show than the ones we normally see. He said travel shows are too perfect. The truth is bags get lost etc. He wants to make a point that whether or not you have fun on your travels, is your perspective. He wants to make travel accessible for everyone, with a little dose of comedy along the way. His pilot presentation brought us to many sites around the Los Angeles area including the Griffith Park Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the famed hotdog stand Pink's & The Mondrian Hotel. It's endearing comments like this by Zach which made him a crowd favorite, 'Hearing I was a finalist must be the way Neil Armstrong felt walking on the moon.' Zach also writes his won material &is great with writing & comedy. His pilot close proves just that: 'As the sun sets in LA where stars are born, walked on & millions of others are obscured by smog, I may not have become a star, but I did get a new perspective. Until next next time, always live life as an adventure. Whatever happens along the way, just roll with it.'

In the end, it was only fitting that Oprah herself would make the final decision. In true Oprah fashion she offered up great words of wisdom for the two & explains why she chose the final two. 'I know for sure what a decision like this will do for your life & how your life will be changed. I feel a great sense of pride in making this decision.' Telling Kristina she 'brought the light' and you could 'feel her zest & passion.' She liked that Kristina's show which felt real & authentic. About Zach she told him 'The courage it took just for you to send in that tape & audition for a position which requires such stamina. What you have shown us is that the wheelchair doesn't come first. After meeting you I can say for myself & this crew, we no longer see the wheelchair.' Saying that 'being around Zach makes you want to be a better person & that she's never seen anyone with that kind of heart & that humor with all the challenges he's had since he was born.' She went onto say 'The truth is that both of you have given your heart & the truth is both of you deserve to have your own show.'

Upon hearing that their dreams were now coming true Zach's response was that 'he could do backflips now. I won't show you but I could.' 'I knew I had it in me this is what I was born to do.'  'Guess I'm going to need a map & brochures. We've got a lot of work to do.' Kristina said 'Noone can ever say to me Kristina you need to be more practical, you need to stop dreaming.' 'Oprah gave me the career of my dreams.'

Through them we can all be inspired in our own lives & believe that the sky really is the limit. I know I'll be setting my dvr to both these shows on the OWN lineup. To see their pilot presentations go to www.oprah.com/OWN.
