Whitehouse Maroon beats Marshall, 9-0 for season

The Whitehouse freshman Maroon team defeated Marshall 32-0 last week.

The Wildcats improved to 9-0 for the season, including a district record of 6-0.

Whitehouse will conclude the season Thursday, Nov. 3, at Kilgore.

It did not take long for the Wildcats to score what turned out to be the winning touchdown. Early in the first period, Jackson Allen capped a drive with a 7-yard run, and Colby Crim booted the PAT kick for a 7-0 lead.

Later in the stanza, the Whitehouse defense tackled the Marshall runner in end zone for safety and a 9-0 lead.

Justin Dunning hauled in a 52-yard scoring pass from Nate Brooks for another Whitehouse touchdown in the first quarter. Crim’s kick pushed the lead to 16-0.

Following halftime, Dunning scored again, this time on a 45-yard pass from Allen. The PAT gave the Wildcats a 23-0 advantage.

Whitehouse scored twice in the fourth quarter, the first was Dunning’s third TD reception. Allen connected on a 40- yard pass for the points and Crim’s kick put the lead to 30-0. Later in the period, the Whitehouse defense tackled a Marshall runner in the end zone for a safety and the final margin of 32-0.

Defensively for the Wildcats, Nate Brooks had an interception, and Dominque Hollie, Devan Collier and Nick Costlow were standouts.

The freshman White team fell to Lindale 24- 14. They dropped to 4-3 for the season and 2-1 in district play. The White team will conclude their season today with a home game against Lindale.

For the Wildcats, Logan Barker had a touchdown run, and Phillip Reyes caught a touchdown pass from Barker. Parker Baskin kicked two PATs.
