St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols rejected the Cardinals' latest offer and is set to call off contract talks until after the season, USA Today reported Sunday night, citing a source close to Pujols.
The all-star is entering the final season of a eight-year, $111 million contract. It is speculated Pujols is seeking a 10-year deal that is similar to Alex Rodriguez 's $275 million contract with the Yankees.
Last season, Pujols batted .312 with 42 home runs and 118 RBIs.
• Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said he expects to have a new contract for closer Carlos Marmol completed before an arbitration hearing Tuesday. Marmol, (38 saves, 2.55 ERA) asked for $5.65 million while the Cubs countered with $4.1 million.
PHOENIX — Sacramento rookie DeMarcus Cousins did not make the trip to Phoenix for the game against the Suns because of an incident in the locker room after the Kings' 99-97 loss to Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Cousins reportedly was upset that teammate Donte Greene had not passed him the ball for the final shot in the game. Greene passed the ball to Tyreke Evans , who missed a 3-point attempt.
• Washington Wizards forward Rashard Lewis (sore right knee) missed his second straight game.
MOSCOW — American Katherine Reutter won the women's World Cup 1,000-meter short-track speedskating race in 1 minute, 32.076 seconds. Simon Cho of the U.S. won the men's 500 meters in 42.157 seconds. American Travis Jayner was third (1:27.022) in the men's 1,000.
• Russia's Albert Demchenko won a World Cup luge race at a newly built track near Moscow. He finished two runs in 1 minute, 41.116 seconds. Americans Chris Mazd- zer was 18th in 1:44.402 and Bengt Walden finished 20th in 1:44.624.

• David Oliver won the 60-meter hurdles at the Karlsruhe Indoors meet in Germany. The Denver East graduate finished in 7.40 seconds. American Kellie Wells won the women's 60 hurdles in 7.82.
• Three-time FIFA player of the year Ronaldo , 34, will announce his retirement from soccer today, according to a Brazilian paper.
• Dallas Stars defenseman Nicklas Grossman left Sunday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets with a lower-body injury.
