The Delta Rabbits ran away with the 3A state title on the final day of competition at UVU on Saturday. With a great combination of individual stars and depth, Delta was just too strong for runner-up Wasatch to overcome.
Delta scored 267.0 points to Wasatch's 240.0 while Cedar City was a strong third with 175.5 points.
The Rabbits crowned one individual champion, Jace Abbott (135 pounds), but put six wrestlers in the finals.
Wasatch crowned four individual champions including Gerrit Bradley (112) who defeated teammate Garrett Sweat 14-4. It was Bradley's second state title and third trip to the finals as he won a silver medal as a member of the Springville wrestling team in 2009 before his family moved to Heber Valley.
Other Wasp champions were Morgan Sweat (125), Tanner Sweat (140) and Tyson Kohler (285). Morgan Sweat won his match against Jordan Prince by technical fall ,while Tanner Sweat pinned Delta's Christian Hatch. Kohler was also impressive winning his match over Manti's Teancum Famuli 10-3.
Bradley and Kohler were named as the Outstanding Wrestlers for the tournament.
American Leadership Academy finished tied for 17th place with 8.0 points as Oaks Morley (285) was eliminated just short of placing.
